The former Governor of Akwa Ibon, Senator Godswill Akpabio has emerged the President of the 10th National Assembly in Nigeria
Akpabio polled 63 votes to defeat Senator Abdul’aziz Yari who polled 46 votes while Jibrin Barau, emerged as the Deputy Senate President.
Earlier, Senator Ali Ndume had nominated Godswill Akpabio for the number one seat while Senator Ishaku Abbo nominated Senator Yari Abdulaziz for senate president
Akpabio was sworn in at exactly 09:44am.
