A former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on State Capital and Human Development Authority, Comrade Ogunleye Olanrewaju Olakunle, has urged residents of Ekiti North Senatorial District to support the re-election of Senator Cyril Oluwole Fasuyi in the January 2027 general elections, stressing that continuity in representation would strengthen the district’s capacity to pursue its interests at the National Assembly.
In a statement Ogunleye.
argued that returning Fasuyi, who represents Ekiti North in the 10th National Assembly, would offer constituents an opportunity to build on his first-term experience to attract more developments to Ekiti North rather than voting new entrants who will spend ample years to learn the national Assembly system.
According to him, political party loyalty and the directives of political leaders should not take precedence over considerations of effective representation and the long-term interests of the people.
“With all humility, Senator Cyril Oluwole Fasuyi is the only candidate contesting that can become a ranking member,”
Ogunleye urged residents to be guided and reasoned above political sentiments. He maintained that the 2027 election presented an opportunity for the people of Ekiti North to make a decision based on the potential benefits of continuity, experience and stronger legislative representation.
Fasuyi emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ekiti North in the party’s May 2026 senatorial primary, polling 14,179 votes to defeat former lawmaker Ayo Arise, who scored 4,868 votes.
Fasuyi’s interventions included support for farmers, educational assistance to students, road infrastructure facilitation and initiatives aimed at improving access to electricity, employments , empowerment, sinking of boreholes in several communities, among others.
Ogunleye called on eligible voters across the five local government areas that make up Ekiti North—Ikole, Oye, Ido-Osi, Moba and Ilejemeje—to vote for continuity as they prepare to elect their representative in 2027.
He stressed that the ultimate decision rested with the electorate, urging residents to weigh their options carefully and prioritise what they consider most beneficial to the district’s development.
