In a manner suggestive of an attainment of a broad based endorsement that would bolster his political aspiration, the All Progressives Congress leadership in Moba Local Government, has affirmed the Senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, Cyril Fasuyi, as the consensus candidate in the impending primary in the council.
The endorsement was passed at an expanded caucus meeting held by the leaders on Tuesday, alongside key stakeholders, where they unanimously affirmed Senator Fasuyi as the candidate of the party in the council for the forthcoming primary in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
High profile political figures at the endorsement meeting, held in Otun Ekiti were: The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political matters, Chief Jide Awe, Special Adviser on Mobilisation to the Governor, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Folorunsho Olabode, among other heavyweights.
Also present at the event were the Director of the APC Campaign Council in Moba Local Government, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, the Director of Mobilization of the Campaign Council in Ekiti State, Hon. Onipede Sukanmi, the Chairman of the APC party, Hon Femi Adeyeye, The Chairman and Chairperson of MOBA LG and ERO LCDA, Hon Fadugba and Hon. Felicia Ibiloye, the Commissioner for SUBEB, Barr. Kayode Adeoye, the APC state treasurer, Mr. Olajide Rufus, Prince Bamiteko, as well as other critical stakeholders and party faithful.
It was a consensual agreement at the meeting that the leadership and party structures in Moba LG have collectively endorsed Senator Cyril Fasuyi as the only recognized candidate of the party for the senatorial seat.
Saluting the APC stakeholders for the bravery and sense of patriotism , High Chief Jide Awe, described the decision as a signal of unity in APC and a strategic way to unify the party and makes it a potent force that can easily win all future elections.
According to him, “This is a family decision and the direction of the leadership of MOBA LG. Everyone must rally round and support Senator Cyril Fasuyi to ensure victory in the forthcoming election.”
Underscoring the significance of being a ranking Senator in the Senate in her remarks, Chief Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, was emphatic that such tendency would attract more federal presence and put Ekiti in a visible spectrum in the control of lever of power at the national pedestal.
Rationalizing the action taken by the party faithful, Mrs Olaleye expressed elation over the loyalty and discipline exhibited by the party’s top echelons, advising members to work collectively towards the decision of the leadership of the local government.
Lending his voice to the endorsement, the Director of the Campaign Council in Moba Local Government and the Youth Commissioner , Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo, reaffirmed the support of the people to ensuring the reelection of Senator Fasuyi at the primary.
Adedayo assured the Senator that Moba stands firmly behind his candidacy, saying :“Moba Local Government is solidly behind Senator Cyril Fasuyi and will deliver overwhelming support for him”.
Speaking in the same fashion, the Director of Mobilization of the Campaign Council, Hon. Sunkanmi Onipede, reiterated that there is no division within the party’s ranks, stressing that Senator Fasuyi remains the only candidate recognized in Moba.
“We are united and resolute. Senator Cyril Fasuyi is the only candidate, and we are fully committed to his success,” he affirmed.
Overwhelmed by outpouring of solidarity for his reelection , Senator Cyril Fasuyi expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and stakeholders of Moba Local Government for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured the people of his continued commitment to effective and impactful representation, saying: “I am grateful for this show of trust and unity. I assure you that I will continue to represent you diligently and uphold the mandate of our people,”.
Other contestants for the senatorial ticket include former occupant of the seat and ex-Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatisation, Senator Ayo Arise, a dark horse in the race, Mr Bamisaye, among others.
