A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Nyesom Wike has announced the sale of nomination forms and released a detailed timetable for its 2026 primary elections ahead of the next general polls.
According to the schedule, the sale of forms will commence on Monday, April 27, 2026, and close on Monday, May 4, 2026, giving aspirants a one-week window to obtain the necessary documents.
The faction also fixed nomination fees for various elective positions, with the presidential form pegged at ₦51 million, while governorship aspirants are expected to pay ₦21 million. The Senate form was set at ₦6 million, House of Representatives at ₦4 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
The primary elections are scheduled to begin with the presidential primary, which will hold from Sunday, May 17 to Monday, May 18, 2026. This will be followed by the House of Representatives primaries on Thursday, May 21, and the Senate primaries on Saturday, May 23.
The State House of Assembly primaries are slated for Monday, May 25, while the governorship primaries will conclude the exercise on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
The announcement signals early preparations by the Wike-backed bloc within the Peoples Democratic Party, amid ongoing internal realignments within the party, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.
