Forty students drawn from four different schools in Ilupeju Ekiti have benefitted from the yearly Diamond Scholarship Awards of Engineer OLUWADARE OMODUDU.
Presenting the awards in Ilupeju Ekiti on Friday, the sponsor of the yearly Awards, DIAMOND OF GOD GLOBAL RESOURCES LTD, Engineer OLUWADARE OMODUDU presented each of the beneficiary #50,000, saying the amount would go a long way in supporting their education.
At the 10th year Award tagged ” transforming lives through education, Engineer Omodudu said ten best students from junior to senior secondary school were picked from each of the four secondary schools in Ilupeju Ekiti. The schools according to the sponsor of the Awards are: Obalatan Commercial Grammar School which is the alma mater of the sponsor , Ilupeju High School, Christ the King and Oluwanifesimi secondary school, all in Ilupeju Ekiti.
Engineer Omodudu who tasked the beneficiaries that education is the bedrock of development, called on
them to face their studies squarely, cautioned them against keeping bad friends that can mal their future.
According to the sponsor” stringent measures were put in place to select the beneficiaries; seven brilliant and three indigent students were chosen from each of the four secondary schools” We started the award with #10000, last year it was #20000 and this year which makes it the tenth edition because of the harsh economy, we increased the money to #50000 so that it would solve part of the students’ predicaments and I want to assure you that God willing,we shall sustain the award. Efforts are in place to add some initiatives that would be of great benefits to the students in our next edition”
Adding that by 2025, another secondary school would be added as a beneficiary. He charged the government and relevant stakeholders to prioritize education, urging the government to set up a monitoring team that would restore the lost glory of education. He called on parents to encourage their children to embrace education as the surest way to be successful and a guaranteed future.
He called on well meaning Nigerians to support education for a better society devoid of criminal tendencies that would speedily enhance development.
In his goodwill message, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, Oba David Sunday Awe AKINGBADE represented by the Obanla of Ilupeju Ekiti, His Highness, Sunday Ogunsola enjoined the students to face their studies and shun social vices that could truncate their destiny. Obanla commended Engineer Omodudu for the Philantropic gestures that he said had impacted several lives, he prayed God to spare and uplift the sponsor
Also, High Chief Oloja Odo Egosi, High Chief Ogunbiyi, Elese, pastor Olu Olusunde, Law Ibitoye and parents applauded the sponsor of the award non stop for ten years . They prayed God bless him to continue the service to humanity.
While some of the beneficiaries appreciated the sponsor as they prayed that Omodudu would continue to wax stronger financially.
