President Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Alhasan Yahya has inaugurated two new national officers and two special advisers from Zone B (Southwest zone), during its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Kano State.
Mr. James Sowole and Mr Seye Ojo from Ogun and Oyo councils were sworn in as National Ex-Officio and trustee for Zone B,
Also, immediate past Chairman of Ekiti Council , Rotimi Ojomoyela and Mrs. Deola Ekinne, a former Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Lagos, were appointed Special Advisers on labour matters and Women Affairs to the NUJ National President,
In his remarks, the President, Yahya congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of professional experience to bear in their new roles, noting that their expertise would strengthen the union’s leadership at the national level.
The Zonal Vice President for Zone B, Princess Ronke Afebioye Samo, also described the four appointees as “the right peg in a round hole” and expressed confidence in their ability to excel.
The inauguration marks another step in the NUJ’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its leadership structure and enhance representation across the six zones, with the newly appointed officers expected to play key roles in advancing the union’s mission.
Meanwhile, Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has hailed the appointment of its former chairman, Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela as Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
In a statement co-signed by the Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, Comrade O’Seun Ogunsakin, the Union described Ojomoyela’s appointment as a reward for commitment to the growth of the Union.
The Union described the Ojomoyela who was a two-time chairman of Ekiti Council as a seasoned journalist whose wealth of experience and expertise fit into the new position.
Ekiti NUJ added that the former Chairman’s appointment is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and commitment to the journalism profession.
” Ojomoyela’s appointment is good news to us in Ekiti NUJ. It is a reward for his sacrifices and commitment to the growth of NUJ in Ekiti State and Nigeria. We have no doubt that his counsel and insight will significantly contribute to the growth and development of the NUJ under the President’s leadership. We congratulate Ojomoyela on this well-deserved appointment and wish him all the best as he embarks on this new responsibility. His expertise will undoubtedly be invaluable to the NUJ’s continued success”, the Union said.
