The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has assured residents of Eda Oniyo community in Ilejemeje Local Government of the state government’s continued commitment to their welfare, security and socio-economic development.
Dr. Oyebanji gave the assurance during a visit to the community, where relief materials and food items were presented to cushion the effects of the recent security challenges experienced by some residents and support victims who regained their freedom from the abductors.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, the First Lady said the intervention was part of the administration’s compassionate response to the plight of affected families, stressing that the government would continue to stand with communities facing difficult circumstances.
She said the government of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji had responded appropriately to the situation involving the released victims, adding that the administration would not abandon residents at a time when they needed support and reassurance most.
According to her, the government’s intervention was not limited to providing immediate relief, but was also aimed at restoring confidence, strengthening community resilience and creating an environment where residents could return to their normal lives.
Dr. Oyebanji assured the people of Eda Oniyo that Governor Oyebanji would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the community becomes a model of development in Ekiti State.
She urged residents to continue to support the administration of Governor Oyebanji, describing the partnership between government and the people as essential to achieve sustainable development, peace and security.
The First Lady also appealed to the people to sustain their support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the success of government policies and programmes required the cooperation and active participation of citizens.
Earlier, the Director-General, Community Communications, office of the Governor, Mrs Mary Oso Omotosho, called on the community to play a more active role in supporting security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and properties.
She stressed that security was a collective responsibility and urged residents to provide relevant information to security agencies, remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities to prevent criminal activities.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ilejemeje local government, Hon Dada Pious Alaba commended the Ekiti State Government for coming to the aid of the released victims at the appropriate time, describing the intervention as a demonstration of the administration’s responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable citizens.
Other dignitaries who spoke including the commissioner for local government affairs Chief Folorunso Olabode encouraged members of the community to strengthen their internal security mechanisms and maintain close communication with relevant government and security institutions.
Responding on behalf of the community, its President, Dr. Rufus Ajayi, expressed appreciation to the Ekiti State Government and the First Lady for the timely intervention and concern shown towards the people of Eda Oniyo.
Ajayi said the visit and the relief materials had provided encouragement to residents, particularly families affected by the recent security challenges.
He assured the government of the community’s continued cooperation and support, particularly in the area of security and development.
