Residents of Oke Afin and Palace axis of Otun Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area erupted in joy on Wednesday following the restoration of electricity to the community after more than a year of blackout.
The power restoration was made possible through the intervention of the Chairman of Moba Local Government, Hon. Bamidele Fadugba, who facilitated the repair of the long-faulty transformer that serves the area.
Speaking during the restoration exercise, Hon. Fadugba said he was deeply committed to the welfare and comfort of the people, noting that the prolonged outage had hindered economic activities and subjected residents to severe hardship.
He lauded the community for their patience and cooperation throughout the period of darkness, assuring them that his administration would not relent in addressing challenges affecting the wellbeing of citizens.
“I understand the hardship our people faced due to this faulty transformer. Businesses suffered and homes were affected. I am glad that we have been able to restore power, and I appreciate your patience and support throughout this period,” he said.
The Chairman urged residents to take ownership of the facility by safeguarding it against theft and vandalism, emphasizing that community protection of public infrastructure is key to sustainable development.
Hon. Fadugba also reaffirmed his dedication to accountable and people-centered leadership, while calling on residents to continue supporting Governor Biodun Oyebanji whose policies, he said, have empowered local government administrations to deliver meaningful development across the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti State.
Residents who witnessed the restoration could not hide their excitement, describing the Chairman’s intervention as timely and life-changing.
“We are very happy today. Light has come after over one year of darkness. We appreciate Hon. Fadugba for remembering us,” a resident expressed joyfully.
The restored power supply is expected to boost commercial activities, improve security, and enhance overall quality of life in the community
