The Owa-elect of Ayegbaju Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Prince Adewale Oluwatosin Adewole, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for entrenching the culture of fair and rancour-free selection process in traditional setting in the state.
Prince Adewole gave the glowing commendation in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, while leading a powerful delegation to the office of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, to appreciate the governor for his support to the community during the transition and selection periods.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Deputy Governor, Victor Ogunje, quoted the Owa-elect to have described Governor Oyebanji as a champion of peace and rabid lover of traditional institution, as nuanced in his conduct and comportment.
He glowingly saluted Governor Oyebanji for not interfering in the selection process, saying this largely accounted for why the traditional exercise was bereft of violence and acrimony .
Prince Adewole said the residents will continually be grateful to Governor Oyebanji for shunning imposition of traditional rulers across the state, adding that such tendency has restored peace in all the 140 towns in Ekiti.
“We are here to thank Governor Oyebanji and the Deputy Governor, Princess Monisade Afuye for the peaceful way they have been piloting the affairs of this state.
“We were happy that we had a rancour-free selection process that produced me as the Oba-elect.



“We are not only thanking the governor on the selection process, but for all the projects he had executed in Ayegbaju Ekiti and what he will still do for us. We assure him of our support for the success of his administration”.
The prospective monarch said the community still requires infrastructures and human capital facelifts demands that will be formally presented to the Governor after his statutory installation by the government.
Commending the chiefs and elites for midwifing a selection process that could be regarded as a template, the Deputy Governor, congratulated the community and urged all stakeholders to solidly back the incoming traditional ruler to accelerate development.
Mrs Afuye described the peaceful selection as firmly in sync with the philosophy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration that issue bordering on tradition should be devoid of imposition and unwarranted bedlams.
“I pray that your reign will be a successful and progressive one. It shall be peaceful and bring joy to your people. Our governor is a man of peace and he is for everybody. We will support you to succeed”.
Dignitaries at the function were: Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr. Leke Adefolaju, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Victor Adeniyi, traditional and honourary chiefs, elites, political figures, among others.
