Former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation, Senator Ayo Arise, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the party’s senatorial primary for Ekiti North ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Arise picked the forms in Abuja and expressed confidence in securing victory at both the primary and the general election. The former lawmaker said he was returning to the race to continue serving the people and build on what he described as his achievements during his first tenure representing Ekiti North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011.
According to him, his ambition is driven by a desire to improve the welfare of the people rather than personal gain.
“God has blessed me beyond human comprehension. I am not hungry for office. I am contesting again to further develop the people and society and to create more opportunities for them through quality representation,” he said.

Arise stated that he had already visited all the 56 wards in the district to consult with APC leaders and supporters, adding that the reception he received showed that the people value competence, performance, humility and hard work.
He also disclosed that about 7,000 canvassers had been engaged to mobilise party members in support of his aspiration.
Highlighting his previous achievements in office, Arise said he facilitated the establishment of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), while also providing health centres, libraries, electricity, water projects and empowerment programmes across communities in the district.
He said Ekiti North needs experienced and competent representation at the National Assembly to complement the development efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
“Our governor is fast-tracking development across the state. There is need for capable hands at the National Assembly to support him and make the impact more visible,” he added.
Arise also urged APC members to remain united and committed ahead of the forthcoming governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
