The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), top party leaders, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and thousands of supporters are expected in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday for the grand finale campaign rally of Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
The mega rally, scheduled to hold at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion along New Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, is expected to attract one of the largest political gatherings in the state’s history as the ruling APC rounds off its statewide campaign for the re-election of Governor Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye.
According to the Ekiti APC Governorship Election Campaign Council, the rally marks the climax of an extensive grassroots campaign that has taken the party’s campaign train across all wards, communities and local government areas of the state.
The council said the event would serve as a demonstration of the widespread support enjoyed by the governor across various segments of the society, citing endorsements from traditional rulers, market women, artisans, youths, women groups, civil servants, retirees, religious leaders, professional associations and political stakeholders.
The expected attendance of Vice President Shettima and APC governors, according to the council, underscores the strategic importance of Ekiti State to the ruling party and reflects the confidence reposed in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership and performance over the last four years.
The council noted that Governor
Oyebanji’s administration has recorded achievements in critical sectors including infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, tourism and economic growth.
It added that the governor’s inclusive style of governance and commitment to the welfare of the people had continued to attract support across political divides.
Speaking on the significance of the rally, the council described it as a celebration of the administration’s achievements and a reaffirmation of the people’s commitment to sustaining the developmental strides recorded under the Oyebanji-led government.
“The rally will be a powerful statement of unity and a clear signal that Ekiti people are determined to consolidate on the remarkable gains recorded over the last four years. It will demonstrate that the mandate to continue the progress agenda enjoys support across political, social and generational divides,” the council stated.
The campaign council called on APC members, supporters and residents of the state to participate in the event, assuring them of adequate security and logistics arrangements.
It also urged attendees to maintain peace and comply with all security and traffic regulations during the rally.
The APC is seeking a fresh mandate for Governor Oyebanji in the June 20 governorship election, with party leaders expressing confidence that the widespread support witnessed during the campaign would translate into victory at the polls.
