The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has promised to rehabilitate township roads across the state’s 16 local government areas within his first 100 days in office if elected in the June 20 governorship election.
Oluyede made the promise on Saturday during a mega rally held in Ado-Ekiti, where he unveiled his administration’s priorities, including healthcare improvement, commercial agriculture, wealth creation, and grassroots development. The event attracted party leaders, supporters, women and youth groups from across the state.
The PDP candidate said local government autonomy would be a major tool for driving development at the grassroots level, stressing that his administration would ensure that local government councils deliver meaningful projects and services to residents.
Speaking on the state’s economy, Oluyede lamented what he described as decades of inadequate wealth creation, arguing that successive governments had focused mainly on public sector employment. He pledged to support farmers in commercial agriculture as a strategy for boosting productivity, increasing household incomes, and expanding the state’s revenue base.
Oluyede also promised reforms in the health sector, citing poor infrastructure, inadequate equipment, and weak financing in many public hospitals. He maintained that improving access to quality healthcare would be among the immediate priorities of his administration.
The rally featured the presence of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who endorsed Oluyede as the most qualified candidate in the race. She urged Ekiti residents to elect leaders capable of securing a better future for the state, expressing confidence that education, healthcare, and agriculture would receive greater attention under a PDP-led government.
