A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and aspirant for the Ekiti North Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Senator Ayo Arise, has described the death of elder statesman, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and former lawmaker, Sen. Tony Adeniyi, as a monumental loss to Ekiti State and Nigeria.
Arise expressed shock over the passing of the renowned legal luminary, saying the news came as a rude shock and at a time when the nation needed his wealth of experience and wise counsel.
In a condolence statement made available to journalists, the former lawmaker said Adeniyi’s contributions to the legal profession, democratic governance, and national development would remain indelible.
“The death of the erudite lawyer came as a rude shock. It was unimaginable and least expected, especially at a time when Nigeria needs his wealth of experience most,” Arise stated.
He noted that the late Adeniyi, an indigene of Ikere-Ekiti, served the country with distinction as a member of the National Assembly and earned widespread respect within the legal profession through his dedication, integrity, and commitment to justice.
According to him, the deceased remained steadfast in his support for democratic ideals, the rule of law, and the advancement of Ekiti State until his last days.
“A chieftain of the APC, Sen. Adeniyi remained committed to democratic ideals, the rule of law, and the development of Ekiti State until his passing,” he added.
Arise commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ikere-Ekiti, members of the legal community, and all Nigerians who benefited from his leadership and service.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed statesman and urged those he left behind to take solace in his remarkable legacy of service to humanity and the nation.
