Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved consolidated salaries and official vehicles for the three recently appointed Headmasters General in the state.
The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
Akinwumi said the approval covers Mrs Monisola Oguntamore, Headmaster General, Ekiti Central; Mr Isaac Ogunleye, Headmaster General, Ekiti South; and Mrs Bola Omotoso, Headmaster General, Ekiti North, who were appointed in June 2025.
According to him, the gesture is aimed at strengthening administrative leadership, improving school supervision and enhancing effective service delivery in public primary schools across the state.
He said the incentives were well deserved, adding that Governor Oyebanji recognised the strategic role of the Headmasters General in driving quality teaching, learning and monitoring at the basic education level.
“The consolidated salary structure and official vehicles will enhance mobility, improve monitoring of schools, boost morale and attract competent hands to leadership positions in the basic education sub-sector,” the governor said in the statement.
“Our Headmasters General are the engine room of basic education administration. By equipping them properly and rewarding their office, we are investing in better supervision, accountability and improved outcomes for our children,” he added.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming basic education in Ekiti State through the recruitment of teachers, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, renovation and construction of classrooms, provision of learning materials, and continuous professional development for teachers.
He added that the government had sustained the free and compulsory basic education policy while strengthening collaboration with SUBEB, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and other development partners to improve infrastructure and learning outcomes.
Reacting to the development, Akinwumi commended the governor for the approval, describing it as a landmark step towards strengthening the administration of basic education in the state.
He noted that the consolidated salary and official vehicles would remove operational bottlenecks, enhance supervision and provide the Headmasters General with the institutional support required to drive reforms at the grassroots.
The SUBEB chairman urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, transparency and commitment to duty.
“I urge the Headmasters General to see this approval as a call to greater service. They must lead by example, ensure regular school monitoring and uphold the highest standards of discipline and performance,” he said.
Akinwumi also appealed to primary school teachers across the state to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by rededicating themselves to teaching and to the overall goal of producing well-rounded pupils.
He assured that SUBEB would continue to align with the state government’s education policy thrust by implementing programmes to motivate teachers and improve the learning environment.
While commending the board, management and staff of Ekiti SUBEB for their commitment to the development of basic education, Akinwumi said the approval would be published in the state government’s official gazette.
