Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has named newly constructed government buildings after three former governors of the state in recognition of their contributions to Ekiti’s development.
The buildings named after former Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi and former Governor Chief Ayodele Fayose are scheduled for commissioning on Friday, July 31, and Monday, August 3, 2026, respectively. Another facility named after former Governor Engr. Segun Oni is nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated in October.
The former governors will serve as Special Guests of Honour and personally commission the buildings named in their honour on the scheduled dates.
The development follows a similar gesture in October 2024 when Governor Oyebanji named the remodelled Presidential Lodge after the state’s first civilian governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, who also commissioned the facility during activities marking the administration’s second anniversary.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, the project inaugurations mark the beginning of another phase of commissioning by the Oyebanji administration as it concludes its first term and prepares for a second term in office.
The statement added that the initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to completing and delivering projects for public use in line with his administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda.
