The spokesman of the Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has commended the Ekiti State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists for its commitment to promoting professionalism and credible information dissemination.
Adaramodu gave the commendation when members of the League, led by its Chairman, Prince Kayode Oni, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Ilawe-Ekiti to formally invite him to the League’s Patrons’ Day scheduled for September.
The senator, who accepted the invitation, pledged his continued support for the association, describing journalism as a noble profession that plays a vital role in shaping society.
“As a veteran journalist, I will always support any initiative that will strengthen the League in Ekiti. Journalism has remained a profession that gives voice to society and brings many to prominence,” he said.
Adaramodu, who is one of the League’s Grand Patrons, attributed his emergence as the Senate spokesman to his background in journalism and the grace of God, urging members of the association to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
Speaking on national politics, the senator dismissed claims of discontent arising from the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections, insisting that all grievances had been addressed through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
He explained that the APC National Working Committee (NWC) had concluded the appeals process and forwarded the names of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), bringing the exercise to a close.
According to him, the APC operates as one family, stressing that members who did not secure elective positions still have opportunities to contribute to governance through other appointments.
“There is accommodation for everyone in the APC. Politics is not only about contesting elections. There are many opportunities for members to serve,” he said.
Adaramodu added that disagreements after party primaries are normal in a democratic setting but noted that the APC has constitutional mechanisms for resolving such disputes, all of which had been exhausted.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the senator urged opposition parties to focus on constructive criticism rather than political attacks, maintaining that the administration of President Bola Tinubu has recorded significant achievements in the economy.
He expressed confidence that President Tinubu would receive overwhelming support from Ekiti State voters in the 2027 presidential election.
