A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has remanded a disqualified APC governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olajumoke, at the Ekiti Correctional Centre for one month over allegations bordering on defamation, cyberbullying and kidnapping in a case instituted by the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Agro-Allied Limited, Mrs Yemisi Joluwe.
The court had earlier granted Olajumoke bail but revoked the order after she failed to appear at the next adjourned sitting, leading to her arrest, detention and subsequent arraignment. During proceedings, counsel to the defendant, Ayokunle Odunayo Okunade, urged the court to grant bail, arguing that the offences were bailable and that the charges should not be used to punish or unjustly detain his client. However, Police Prosecutor, Samson Osobu, urged the court to consider the gravity of the allegations and the provisions of Section 14 of the Cybercrime Act, as amended in 2024.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ordered that Olajumoke be remanded at the Ekiti Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to September 17, 2026, for further hearing. Speaking on telephone, Joluwe said she approached the court to seek justice over what she described as false and damaging allegations against her company, stressing that YSJ Farms had a responsibility to protect its reputation, investors, employees and customers.
Joluwe said the alleged defamatory statements had forced the company to spend valuable time reassuring stakeholders and partners, but maintained that the development had not affected its day-to-day operations.
According to her, YSJ Farms remains focused on its agricultural mandate, youth empowerment and food production, while seeking a formal retraction, public apology and appropriate damages over the alleged harm to its brand.
On reports concerning an alleged kidnapping incident at YSJ Farms, Joluwe said security agencies were investigating the matter and any alleged involvement of Olajumoke in the kidnapping and murder of a staff member. She said the company maintains close collaboration with security agencies and the Ekiti State Government to protect its workers and farm clusters, assuring that its youths remain at the farms, working and earning legitimate income. Joluwe added that the company would allow the judicial process to run its course while pursuing what she described as the restoration of truth and accountability.
