The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved over N604 million for four major infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening digital connectivity, healthcare facilities and security around key government establishments.
The approvals were part of the decisions reached at the Council’s sixth meeting of 2026 held in Ado-Ekiti.
The Council approved N145.08 million for the overhaul and extension of the State Enterprise Broadband Network Infrastructure across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the project will connect government offices through 96-core, single-mode, full-duplex fibre optic cables, improving internet connectivity, communication and e-governance.
The Council also approved N194.66 million for the supply and installation of transformers and other electrical accessories at the new 80-bed multipurpose building of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH). The project will be executed through direct labour and completed within one month.
Another N142.69 million was approved for the construction of a sump to provide reliable water supply to the new EKSUTH 80-bed hospital complex. The project, to be executed by the Ekiti State Water Corporation, has a three-month completion period.
In addition, the Council approved N121.45 million for the installation of solar-powered streetlights at the Governor’s Lodge, Presidential Lodge, Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka Women Development Centre and the entrance to the Governor’s Office.
The solar lighting project, which will be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board through direct labour, is expected to improve security, visibility and safety around the facilities.
The projects are expected to strengthen public infrastructure, improve healthcare support services, enhance digital governance and promote a safer environment across the State.
