The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved major initiatives covering judicial infrastructure, digital connectivity and inclusive employment as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the State.
At its sixth meeting of 2026, the Council approved N3.005 billion for the construction of a new High Court Office Complex at the premises of the Ekiti State High Court of Justice in Ado-Ekiti.
The project is expected to address the shortage of office accommodation and court facilities, particularly following the recent appointment of five additional High Court judges.
The new complex will provide additional courtrooms, judges’ chambers and supporting offices to improve the working environment and enhance the administration of justice in the State.
The project will be executed by Axial Nigeria Limited through the Direct Procurement method and is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Meanwhile, the Council has approved recommendations targeting the deployment of an additional 160 kilometres of fibre optic infrastructure across Ekiti by the end of 2026.
The decision followed the adoption of the report of the EXCO Committee on Fibre Infrastructure, which noted that the State had about 331.7 kilometres of fibre deployment in 2022 and recorded an additional 105.96 kilometres in 2026.
The additional deployment is expected to help Ekiti meet the applicable SABER benchmark and strengthen its eligibility for performance-based funding.
The Council also directed measures to position the State to benefit from the Federal Government’s Project BRIDGE initiative, while existing government-related fibre infrastructure will be assessed for effective utilisation.
In another development, the Council approved the employment of 30 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) into the State Public Service.
It further directed the strict implementation of the 5 per cent employment quota reserved for PWDs under the Ekiti State Disability Law in all future employment exercises.
The government said the decision would promote equal opportunities, inclusive governance and greater participation of Persons with Disabilities in the State’s public service.
The three decisions underscore the administration’s focus on strengthening institutions, expanding digital infrastructure and promoting inclusive development across Ekiti State.
