The Chairman of Cavista Holdings and Agbeyewa Farms, Mr. Niyi John Olajide, has said the company is building more than a conventional farm, but an agricultural hub driven by large-scale production, mechanisation, efficiency and sustainability.
Olajide stated this during a recent inspection visit to Agbeyewa Farms in Ipao-Ekiti, where he assessed ongoing farm operations and inspected newly acquired tractors and other agricultural implements. He said the investments being made in machinery and infrastructure were aimed at improving productivity, expanding cultivation capacity and positioning Agbeyewa as a modern agricultural enterprise.
“What we are building here is bigger than just farming cassava. We are building an agricultural business that must be productive, efficient and sustainable,” Olajide said.
He urged the management and workforce of the farm to ensure effective utilisation and maintenance of the newly acquired equipment, stressing that the investments must translate into measurable improvements in productivity.
According to him, the new machinery would enable the company to execute farming operations more efficiently and cultivate more hectares.
“These tractors are not just equipment. They are investments in our ability to do things faster and cover more hectares. We need to make sure they are properly utilised and maintained,” he said.
During the visit, Olajide toured the farm’s field activities and inspected brand-new 110-horsepower tractors recently acquired from Zoomline.
He described the development as a significant step in the company’s continuing investment in mechanised agriculture, adding that everyone working at the farm had a role to play in achieving its objectives.“Agriculture is not easy, but if we remain committed, disciplined and focused on the work, we will achieve what we have set out to achieve,” he said.
Olajide was received by the Managing Director/CEO of Agbeyewa Farms, Mr. Seyi Oska Aiyeleso, alongside the Director of Community Engagement, Alhaji Dauda Lawal; Senior Manager, People, Mr. Vincent Olajide; and other members of the management team.
Speaking during the visit, Aiyeleso appreciated the Chairman for his continued investment and support for the development of Agbeyewa Farms.
He said the newly acquired tractors and implements would strengthen field operations and increase the farm’s capacity as it expands its cultivation activities.
“We appreciate the Chairman’s continued support and commitment to Agbeyewa. The new tractors and implements will significantly strengthen our field operations and improve our capacity as we continue to expand our cultivation activities,” Aiyeleso said.
The Managing Director acknowledged the challenges associated with large-scale farming but expressed confidence in the systems, workforce and operational capacity being developed to overcome them.
“There are challenges that come with large-scale farming, but we are building the systems, capacity and workforce required to manage those challenges and deliver on our targets,” he said.
The development further underscores Agbeyewa Farms’ focus on mechanisation and large-scale agricultural production as part of its efforts to establish a sustainable and productive agricultural enterprise in Ekiti State.
