100-level student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Temidayo Ajayi, has qualified to represent Ekiti State at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Enugu State after securing third place at the Ekiti State Table Tennis Festival Trials.
Ajayi, a student of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, also won a bronze medal at the 2026 Ojaja Table Tennis Competition, sponsored and hosted by the Ooni of Ife at his palace.
The student’s qualification for the national competition followed his third-place finish at the state trials held last Monday at the EKSU Sports Hall.

The National Sports Festival is scheduled to take place in Enugu State from November 27 to December 11, 2026.
Reacting to the achievements, the Vice-Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, congratulated Ajayi, describing his accomplishments as a source of pride to the university.
Ayodele said Ajayi’s performance demonstrated the sporting talent, dedication and competitive spirit of EKSU students, expressing confidence in his ability to achieve greater success at the national competition.
The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing opportunities for students to develop their talents and excel in sports alongside their academic pursuits.
He encouraged students to take advantage of available platforms to showcase their abilities and represent the university and Ekiti State with distinction.
Ajayi’s achievements highlight the sporting potential of EKSU students and the importance of supporting young athletes to compete successfully at state and national levels.
