The Chairman of Ifeloju Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ilupeju-Ekiti, Hon. Olusola Michael Oniyelu, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as an opportunity to celebrate the nation’s journey while renewing commitment to its growth and development.
Oniyelu also felicitated with the people of Ekiti State on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state, saying the occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress recorded over the past three decades and the contributions of successive administrations and citizens to the development of the state. Nigeria attained independence in 1960, while Ekiti State was created in 1996.
In a statement made available to journalists, the Chairman commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as purposeful and people-oriented leadership, noting that his administration’s policies and programmes had positioned Ekiti for development and impact positively on the lives of residents.
He cited interventions in infrastructure, education, agriculture, tourism, road construction / rehabilitation, healthcare, youth empowerment, employment, security and social development as areas in which the state government had recorded notable interventions.
The Chairman said the support enjoyed by his administration from Governor Oyebanji had also enabled the LCDA to bring government closer to the grassroots and deliver projects and programmes to residents. He therefore appreciated the people of Ifeloju LCDA for their cooperation, patience and support, saying the achievements recorded by his administration would not have been possible without the collective contributions of residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders and other partners.
Reflecting on some of the achievements of his administration, Oniyelu listed rehabilitation and opening of access roads, construction of culverts, construction of market stalls and lock-up shops, provision and rehabilitation of boreholes, educational support, youth and women empowerment, assistance to petty traders and support for traditional institutions.
He added that his administration had also provided various empowerment items and economic support to residents, including grinding machines, sewing machines, clippers, farming tools and other working equipment, while infrastructure interventions had included market facilities and road grading.
According to the statement, Hon Oniyelu said, his administration would continue to prioritise projects and programmes capable of improving the living conditions of residents, creating economic opportunities and strengthening grassroots development across Ilupeju, Itapa, Osin and Omu and Ijelu Ekiti.
Oniyelu urged Nigerians and Ekiti residents to continue to promote peace, unity and responsible citizenship, stressing that sustainable development required cooperation between government and the people. He prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity for Nigeria and Ekiti State, while wishing residents of Ifeloju LCDA a memorable Independence and anniversary celebration.
“As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence and Ekiti celebrates 30 years of creation, we must continue to appreciate our journey, acknowledge the sacrifices of our founding fathers and work together for a more prosperous future.
