The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu has felicitated with all Nigerians, the people of Ekiti, and especially residents of the district on the 2026 Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration.
Osinkolu, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, also congratulated all Ekiti people on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The PDP candidate saluted the courage of Nigerian and Ekiti founding fathers who sacrificed a lot towards the actualization of the country’s independence and the creation of the state, respectively.
“There is no doubt that both the nation’s independence and Ekiti State creation anniversary remain a thing of joy and worthy of celebration, but current leaders across the country still need to work hard on the development of the society.
“In Ekiti, for instance, our leaders need to brace up to bring about meaningful development across the State. The current underdevelopment being witnessed in the State, despite huge allocations from the federation account after subsidy removal, is unacceptable,” he said.
Osinkolu commended President Bola Tinubu for ensuring that all states in the country can now meet their obligations to the people through increased allocations to all tiers of government, but fumed at what he described as misplaced priorities by some governors in utilising state funds meant for the benefit of the masses.
He described the level of development in Ekiti State, especially in Ekiti North Senatorial District, as worrisome, hence the need for robust representation from a competent politician in the district as the 2027 general elections approach.
The PDP candidate assured the electorate in his district of an unprecedented turnaround, especially in the areas of empowerment, project facilitation and implementation, bill sponsorship, financial intervention in agriculture, and healthcare delivery, among others.
Osinkolu, however, called for the support of all electorate irrespective of party affiliation in actualising his ambition, saying poverty knows no political coloration, hence the need for all and sundry to come together as one entity to deliver Ekiti North Senatorial District from the current misrepresentation.
