The Alumni Association of Obalatan Commercial Grammar School, Ilupeju-Ekiti, has offered special prayers for the successful second term of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, asking God to strengthen and guide him as he prepares to commence another tenure on October 16, 2026.
The prayers, which formed part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary and the governor’s second-term inauguration, also focused on the continued peace, progress and good governance of Nigeria, as well as the wellbeing of members of the Obalatan alumni community across the globe.
The prayer session, organised by the leadership of Prof. John Oloyede was held virtually, with members joining from different locations across globe. It was coordinated by the National Prayers Committee under the leadership of Pastor Tunde K. Apata.

The alumni, while praying for Governor Oyebanji’s successful second term, also sought divine intervention for the restoration and transformation of their alma mater, praying that God would raise individuals, organisations and government who would contribute to turning the school into a modern institution equipped with contemporary learning facilities and a conducive environment for students.
The prayers underscored the deep connection of the alumni with the development of the school, with members expressing concern over the need for urgent intervention to restore the institution to the standard for which it was known.
Speaking on the significance of the prayer session, the Secretary-General of OBANCO, Prince Adebolu Ayodele Samuel, FCA, described it as a necessary spiritual intervention for both the state and the school.
He said Obalatan Commercial Grammar School required urgent and serious interventions, stressing that the responsibility of restoring its glory should be every serious minded individual’s concern.
According to him, the alumni community, government, old students, well-meaning individuals and other stakeholders must put their hands on deck to revive the school and provide the younger generation with the quality learning environment they deserve.
He stressed that spirited members can visit the alumni secretariat at Mercyland Plaza, Nova Road, Off Basiri/ Nova Junction . The association also prayed for Nigeria’s continued peace and progress, while asking God to guide the country’s leaders and grant them the wisdom to provide good governance and improve the wellbeing of citizens.
The prayer session further provided an opportunity for members of the global alumni family to renew their commitment to the welfare of their alma mater and strengthen their collective resolve to contribute to its restoration and sustainable development.
