Members of the 2001 Set of Unity Secondary School, Ikere-Ekiti, have unveiled a two-day programme to commemorate their 25th anniversary and celebrate the bonds of friendship, unity and shared memories forged during their school years.
The anniversary, scheduled for Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, 2026, will feature sporting, social, educational and community-oriented activities, culminating in a grand gala night at Queens Court Hotel, Ikere-Ekiti.
According to the planning committee, activities on Friday will begin with accreditation and registration from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by indoor games. Members will thereafter pay a courtesy visit to New Cruise FM, Ikere-Ekiti, before proceeding to the school for a tour of the premises. A novelty football match between the school team and the 2001 Set will hold from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, while the day will end with a general interactive session.
Saturday’s activities will commence with breakfast, followed by a health talk for pupils from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Alumni, guests and teachers are expected to arrive by 10:00 am for the formal ceremony, which will feature the National and School Anthems, introduction of guests and an opening address by the Local Organising Committee Chairman.
A major highlight will be the unveiling of a project by the 2001 Set at 11:15 am, followed by an award presentation to individuals and stakeholders who have contributed to the development of the school and alumni association. Other activities include the cutting of the anniversary cake, vote of thanks, closing remarks and a group photograph.
The celebration will climax with a Gala Night from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Queens Court Hotel, Ikere-Ekiti, where members and invited guests will reconnect and celebrate 25 years of shared experiences and accomplishments.
The anniversary is also expected to provide an opportunity for the 2001 Set to strengthen alumni ties and reaffirm its commitment to supporting the development of Unity Secondary School and its students. The organisers called on members, school authorities, teachers, guests and other stakeholders to participate actively in the celebration.
