The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2027 general elections in Ekiti State, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has felicitated teachers across the country, Ekiti State and especially Ekiti North Senatorial District on this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
Osinkolu, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, described teachers as a great stimulus for the development of society.
“The contributions of teachers in laying a solid foundation for the youths towards nation-building cannot be underestimated,” he said, hence the need to always prioritise their welfare.
Dr. Osinkolu described teachers as partners in progress and called on government at all levels to ensure prompt payment of salaries, training and retraining, incentives, motivation and promotion, among others, for teachers in the country.
He commended teachers in Ekiti State for their sacrifices in impacting positively on the lives of both students and youths in the state, despite numerous challenges facing them in the discharge of their duties due to what he called systematic errors under the present administration in the state.
“Teaching profession needs to be treated with the desired respect and dignity because of its foundational role in developing society by inculcating both academic and moral values in the lives of the people,” he added.
The politician assured teachers in Ekiti State, especially in Ekiti North Senatorial District, of a more conducive atmosphere to operate if voted into power during the 2027 general elections.
According to him, teachers in Ekiti North Senatorial District will be compensated with incentives, training, prompt payment of salaries and general motivation under his leadership.
While congratulating all teachers in Ekiti State on this year’s celebration, the PDP candidate urged them to re-dedicate themselves to increasing productivity to guarantee the future of youths in the state.
