The Federal Commissioner for Salary Wages and Income who doubles as APC member Contact and Mobilization Presidential Campagin Council, Dr. Mrs Mojisola Yaya- Kolade has adjudged the presidential and National election held on 25th February, 2023 as the freest, peaceful and well conducted in Nigeria.
Adding that the people of Oye Ekiti came out en-mass to exercise their franchise without waiting for anybody to call them out.
Dr. Mojisola Yaya- Kolade disclosed this to journalists at her home town,Oye Ekiti , SS Peter and Paul polling unit in Oye2 ward 1 where she voted around 9: 30am.
She said electorates comported themselves orderly and voted candidates of their choice without any intimidation from any quarters. She commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise .
She said “My own evaluation is that the election has been very peaceful. There was no rowdiness. Everybody obeyed the Law. And we were instructed that if there is no verification, there is no voting and that was what we followed.
I think everybody voted there mind. Some results are coming already. APC is leading in Ekiti State , I can say that vehemently, it’s emphatic.
All I can say that we could see that there some with PDP votes. There is SDP, Labour Party but mainly, we can see that PDP has some descent votes . But majorly , overwhelming, APC is leading.
So, we are hoping that in the Nation , APC will win and we will see a better Nigeria we are all struggling and working for this better and greater Nigeria”
Dr. Yaya Kolade added that based on her position in the PCC, she could not stay in her polling unit alone, saying she visited all polling units in the town monitoring and interacting with people in Oye Ekiti.
“I was in polling unit 9, 12, 7 and all the polling unit here. I drove and work around and I interacted and I saw everything, it was very peaceful. I would say this is one of the most peaceful election I have ever witnessed in Nigeria. And one thing that made me very happy is overwhelming turn out of the youths.You know Oye Ekiti is a Federal University town. When you have a University town, and you see units where youths coming out enmass , you will see something. And as I was going around , I was joking out with them, telling them,it’s your future.”
Commenting on the performance of INEC and security officers, Dr. Kolade commended the stakeholders for Ensuring hitch free Election. She added that the BIVAS worked perfectly in Oye Ekiti, saying the machine made the accreditation fast compared to previous elections where electorates waste their precious time doing accreditation.
According to Yaya- Kolade,
“This is one of the best we have seen. And I hope this is the beginning of greater things for this Country that we all live so much.
There was no voters inducement in Oye Ekiti, they have their minds, Well educated so they can not be bought”
