The presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for 2023 general election, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in a bid to beat Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for submission of running mate which lapse on 17th June, 2022 has submitted the name of Alhaji Kabiru Masari from Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Tinubu had since his emergence as the party’s flag bearer on 7th June , 2022 started wide consultation on his running mate that would be generally acceptable to the Northerners.
Information had it that Tinubu might settle for a Muslim running mate. It would be recalled that the names of Kashim Shettima , former governor of Borno state, Prof. Babagana Zulum and the governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir Elrufai had been mentioned as his likely running mate.
After the consultation, Alhaji Kabiru Masari’s name may likely be substituted for the preferred candidate by leaders of APC.
