“Power corrupt absolute power corrupt absolutely”
Nigeria politicians with enormous power to either better the lots of the masses or further put them in pain, the choice lies in the mind. Anthecedents of some politicians especially former presidents and governors, whose reign were unpatriotic to the services of Nigeria and her citizens will be exposed with the patriotic activities of their successors .
One should not be surprised that the aftermath of their tenure is always encapsulated with multiple probes of financial recklessness or embezzlement of public funds.
Nigeria is so blessed with natural endowments to make her pride of all nations but we are bereft of purposeful, visionary and masses friendly leaders who suppose to tap and utilize the endowments for the growth and rapid development of the country for the comfort of Nigerians. Instead, some corporate Leaders enrich themselves with public money. In recent times, looking at the gravitational laws of the money laundering activities, none of these political leaders would want to leave office unceremoniously like their predecessors.
X- raying the programmes, policies and activities of some Governors show that they have direct impacts on the life of the masses which many people are asking questions that, is something added to the same office occupied by their former bosses. The answer to the questions and agitations are not far-fetched, misappropriation of public fund by those gerontocratic leaders of the past.
Such leaders are uncivilized, inhumane, and wicked trying to anglicize their nomenclature through government paraphernalia to the detriment of the common masses. Nigeria stands for all of us in the face of equality of economic distribution but the agrarian minds of some of our leaders who already thought that we are narrow-minded populace will not want us to challenge the status quo of stealing public funds.
Most of our forerunner political actors have taken decisions that will automatically eliminate the political potentials of their generations unborn, looking at their attitude from political binoculars, the unfriendly attitude towards the political party that midwives their ambition towards catapulting them to the political limelight is not applauded.
The wave of change in our political space in Nigeria had left most of us with no doubt, that being a member of a political party doesn’t make you emotionally attached to the goals and aspirations of such a party, but to your blurry goals and aspirations.
The founding fathers of the most popular parties today had left the party, times without numbers, in some occasions they suddenly balcklisted their party by working against the party or even decamped to a party where their means of getting their candidacy ticket is guaranteed. We are all political entrepreneurs with goals and aspirations to pursue in politics and no one should interfere at the point of realizing them, either with sentiments or emotional blackmail of accusing one of disloyalty or anti-party.
Some past governors tried for their states while some present governors are working hard to see that their people enjoy dividends of democracy through people’s oriented policies even in the face of the current economic entrapment of fuel subsidy removal.
Among the performing Governors, my own Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State is performing a political miracle in the state that still looks inexplicable to many like Plato’s theory of form, many people in the state are perplexed by the governor’s performance in his fiscal policies, implementation, and demonstration of people agreeable decision making.
Ekiti people will continue to yearn for good governance irrespective of political parties and shall not cease comparing notes from past administrations in the state for massive transformation of the state.
Oyo, Lagos, Osun, Rivers, Bauchi, and very few others have done and are currently doing well in meeting the needs of the masses. Others who are far behind are urged to buckle up.
Conclusively, peoples’ oriented Programmes of one government will expose the prebendalism of past administrations.
