A commercial bus driver in Abia State, Onyekachi Ikpendu, has been commended for honesty after returning more than N400,000 forgotten by a passenger in his vehicle.
The passenger, Mrs Nkechi John, a petty trader, had boarded the bus at Uzuakoli and alighted at Ubani Market, Umuahia, but unknowingly left behind a bag containing the cash and other personal belongings. After discovering the bag, Ikpendu secured it and returned it to John when she traced the vehicle to Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal.
The driver said he had no intention of keeping the money, stressing that he was content with earning a living through honest labour and believed that God rewards good deeds.

John expressed appreciation to the driver for his integrity, saying the money was meant for her business.
The Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu, praised Ikpendu for his exemplary conduct, describing the gesture as a demonstration of responsible citizenship and urging residents to uphold honesty and integrity in their daily lives.
