The race to occupy the throne of Alararomi has taken a different twist as Some kingmakers in Araromi Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government area, alleged that some suspected thugs attacked their houses over the obaship tussle in the community.
In a statement, the concerned kingmakers claimed that the attack was allegedly sponsored by one of the contenders in the vacant stool.
The head of the kingmakers and Eisa of Araromi Ekiti, Chief Olu Atoyebi and the Ojumu, Chief Samuel Atewogbola, explained that the attackers came in the night and started throwing stones and other dangerous objects at their houses because of their opposition to short cut.
They also alleged that the Prince, who was behind the attack, also orchestrated the arrest of some indigenes of the town for unjust reasons.
The kingmakers further stated that there was a sinister plan to install warrant chiefs that would install the alleged Prince as the next monarch of the town, despite the obaship tussle case pending in court.
Responding to the allegations, the alleged Prince refuted all the claims of the kingmakers, saying the allegations were concocted to render the exercise of installing the Alararomi useless. He added that there was no crisis in the town, that whoever is not comfortable with his choice should wait for court judgement.
The kingmakers appealed to the State Government to intervene in the matter and ensure strict compliance to the laid down process of selecting a new Alararomi to avert break down of law and order.
