A veteran broadcaster, Alhaji Prince Amusa Rasaq Olayemi, has celebrated his 30th anniversary in the media industry with the public presentation of his new book titled “Touchlight of the Broadcasters.”
The event, held recently at Obalatan Commercial Grammar School Hall in Ilupeju Ekiti, attracted traditional rulers, government officials, media professionals, religious leaders, and well-wishers from across the state.
Delivering a welcome address, Princess Latifa Bisola Abdulwasiu described the celebrant as “a man of many parts” whose life and career exemplify the belief that nothing is impossible with Allah.
She recalled that Prince Amusa began his broadcasting journey three decades ago at Radio Kwara, Ilorin, where he first aired his Ewi performance titled “Oni Motor Rora.” Since then, his voice has continued to resonate across platforms, including Progress FM 100.5 Ado Ekiti and other radio stations.
Highlighting the significance of the newly launched book, Abdulwasiu explained that the publication was borne out of the need to preserve valuable materials in the broadcasting industry. She noted that many archival records stored in outdated formats such as cassettes, diskettes, and discs have been lost over time, stressing that books remain a more reliable means of documentation for future reference.
According to her, “Touchlight of the Broadcasters” is intended to serve as a guide and reference material for upcoming broadcasters, while also encouraging a revival of reading and documentation culture in the media space.
The ceremony also featured award presentations and thanksgiving in honour of the celebrant’s contributions to the development of broadcasting.
Abdulwasiu used the opportunity to call on guests and stakeholders to support the vision of establishing the AMRAS Egiri Oke International FM Radio Station in Ilupeju Ekiti, noting that collective efforts would be required to bring the project to fruition. She also appealed for support towards the development of Obalatan Commercial Grammar School, the alma mater of Prince Amusa, emphasizing that no contribution would be too small in improving the institution.
The family expressed appreciation to members of the planning committee, professional colleagues, organizations, and friends who contributed to the success of the event. The ceremony ended on a celebratory note, with goodwill messages and prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity in Nigeria
