Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Awo Ekiti Ward have called on Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to run for re-election in 2026, citing his impressive performance during his first term in office.
This appeal was made at a ward meeting held at the party house in Awo Ekiti, where party leaders and members praised the governor’s achievements.
Dr. Olatunji Sule, Secretary to Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, initiated the motion, urging the governor to seek a second term.
Sule, emphasized that Oyebanji’s accomplishments in less than two years of his first term have validated the confidence voters placed in him.
He highlighted key developments in the community under the governor’s leadership, noting that Oyebanji’s commitment to the welfare and progress of the people justifies his continued leadership until 2030.
Echoing this sentiment, the Vice Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Babatunde Remi-Alade, lauded the governor for delivering the dividends of democracy to Awo Ekiti.
Remi-Alade noted that Oyebanji had made history by appointing the highest number of individuals from the community to political positions at both the state and local government levels, further solidifying his support base.
Ward Chairman, Mr. Augustine Faparusi, also addressed the gathering, encouraging party members to actively promote the successes of Oyebanji’s administration within the town.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that the governor’s achievements reach every household in the community.
As part of the meeting, 20 APC members at the ward level received financial support of 5,000 naira each from retired Justice Ayodeji Daramola, a gesture of appreciation for their loyalty and commitment to the party.
The financial support was seen as an incentive to strengthen grassroots participation in party activities and consolidate support for Oyebanji’s leadership.
The meeting highlighted the growing momentum behind the governor’s re-election campaign, with local leaders confident that his development-oriented policies and dedication to the people’s welfare will secure his return in 2026.
