The founder, Babatunde Western Charity Foundation, Mrs Fola Western has called on Nigeria government to prioritize education and make it affordable for the children of the less privileged in the society.
Mrs Western said some Nigeria leaders in government and Private sectors benefited the free education of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and wondered why the scheme could not be re-introduced to better the lots of the less privileged.
Mrs Western made the call while reeling out the successes her foundation has recorded in the last two years in Ondo State. She reiterated that education is the bed rock of meaningful development in any society, thereby enjoined the students to be diligent in their studies for them to have a bright future, saying there was no short cut to success.
The founder said BABATUNDE WESTERN CHARITY FOUNDATION was established in 2020 aimed at given qualitative and free education to the less privileged in Nigeria, starting with her home town, Ondo from primary to tertiary institution.
According to the founder, “The foundation have Sixteen students enrolled in different primary and secondary schools in Ondo town, we paid their school fees, bought them school uniforms, sandals, school bags, socks, text books, lockers, chairs, stationeries and we even give them feeding money so that they could concentrate on their studies and become great in future”
The students attend : Saint Monica Girls Grammar School, Saint Joseph Boys Grammar School, Independence Nursery and Grammar Schools , Geden Kiddies and Geden College, FF, all in Ondo town.
Mrs Western stressed that she was passionate about the progress of the students which necessitated her coordinator’s regular visit to the various schools and her constant calls to: parents, principals and class teachers of the students to monitor their performances.
She however called on well meaning Nigerians, organisations and foreign bodies to join her rescue the comatose conditions of education in the country.
While speaking at the end of the year party held in Geden Kiddies school, Ondo town on 17th December, 2022, the founder of the foundation opined that it’s a yearly activities to bring the students together and celebrate God goodness in their lives and put smiles on their faces by giving them Christmas gifts.
She enjoined their parents to be closer to the children, listen to them, take proper care of them and convass with them regularly so as to know what they are passing through.
The coordinator and proprietress of GEDEN KIDIES , Mrs Akinwumiju Veronica urged parents to protect and monitor their children’s movement during the holiday.
On behalf of the elated children, Olagunju Iyanu and Ebunoluwa Oladunsin appreciated the kind gesture of Mrs Western and prayed God to continue to bless her and prosper her ways. As they promised to make the founder proud
Recall, Mrs Fola Western hails from Ondo town where she attained her elementary and secondary education. She said her foundation was only contributing her quota to the development of Ondo town. She added that more students would be added next term.
