No fewer than 13 persons were burnt to ashes in a ghastly accident on Saturday at Abule Panu before Ose Bridge along Owo-Ikare highway.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo State,
Samuel Ibitoye, said 14 persons were onboard, 13 persons burnt beyond recognition, while the only survivor sustained serious injuries.
Recounting, Mr Ibitoye said an
, eyewitness accounts reported that the bus coming from the Ikare axis had a tyre burst which made the driver lose control and led to head-on collision with a bus loaded with fabric coming from Owo axis the two buses went up in flames. The men of FRSC, police and fire service were immediately drafted to the scene for rescue.
“The injured victim was taken to Federal Medical Centre, Owo while the dead ones were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
“Drivers are advised to exercise patience on the roads and passionately maintain their vehicles while passengers are encouraged to speak out against dangerous driving because road safety is a concern of all.”
