A tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening in Iworoko Ekiti, involving a heavily loaded cement truck belonging to Dangote Company.
The incident, which claimed the lives of the truck driver and a young woman, happened just hours after Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, had traveled the same route on his way to visit former Governor Segun Oni at his residence in Ifaki.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck lost control and veered off the road, crashing into the median.
The impact was so severe that the driver died instantly, along with a woman who was in close proximity to the scene.
According to the witness, no other casualties were recorded as students and indigenes of the town escaped the ugly scene.
The community called on the government to urgently address the condition of the road and enforce stricter regulations on heavy-duty vehicles traveling through residential areas.
