The Executive Chairman of Ayede Local Council Development Area, Ayede Ekiti, Prince Aderemi Ajayi has sought for the support
of sons and daughters of the community, home and in the diaspora for functional LCDA that would herald massive development of the area.
The chairman said effective operation of Local Council Development Area needs the intervention and strong commitment of communities to make the council viable in discharging its responsibilities as he called on spirited members of Ayede to support the LCDA.
Prince Aderemi made the call while playing host to some members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Online Chapel Media led by its Chairman, Comrade Ayodele Abere on Wednesday.
The chairman who consented to partner with the NUJ Online Media Chapel for regular reportage of the LCDA activities, reiterated the importance of Journalists in a democratic settings.
According to the chairman, “We can’t do without media, what we are doing here needs adequate publicity for people to be abreast of our activities and through the partnership we can get assistance”.
The Council boss explained the major source of internally generated Revenue was Ayede market, which he said was meagre for the enormous plans and policies he had for the LCDA. “Ayede LCDA is made up of only One Ward, so our Internally Generated Revenue is meagre. Although, we are engaging the Okada riders, artisans and drivers union on the need to always pay their rates. The city of Rome was not built in a day, we shall continue to explore ways to make things happen in the LCDA”
While appreciating the former and current Governors of the State, Kayode Fayemi and Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for the establishment of LCDAs in Ekiti and its funding, the chairman promised to navigate for functionality of the LCDA.
Speaking on how to contain insecurity in Ayede Ekiti, Prince Aderemi opined that the LCDA security outfit named Assonet is always on patrol of both forest and town, day and night. Adding that Assonet work with other security operatives to maintain peace in the area. He urged the people of Ayede to be security conscious and report any strangers roaming around to the security officers.
In a related development, Prince Aderemi condemned the recent killing of Onimojo and Elesun by unknown bandits and the abduction of students in Emure Ekiti.He said the incidents called for sober reflection and strong security architecture to combat the ugly menace. While commending Governor Oyebanji for the prompt release of the abducted students. He prayed God to put an end to kidnapping in Ekiti state.
