For a crime free society to be achieved, every citizen must involve in the effective security of their Environments.
Ekiti state Commander of Agro Marshals , Honourable Olamide Oni gave the advice on Friday while parading some suspected criminals at the Command Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.
Speaking with journalists, the Commander said that one Azeez Isiaka (28) and his brother who was at large raped a 15-year old girl at Iyin-Ekiti in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Thursday.
According to the commander, it took frantic efforts of Agro Marshal men at Iyin-Ekiti to arrest the culprit who engaged the officers in physical combat. The cuprits wanted to escape but our men were able to get one of them while the other one was at large.
As at time the suspect was being paraded, the little girl was said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Ado-Ekiti. Exhibits found with the suspect are two bags of Indian hemp, lylon and two Bajaj motorcycles.
In another development, the Agro Marshal men at Ijan-Ekiti in Gboyin Local Government Area of the State, received an information that somebody stole two kegs of fuel from one Mr. Olayemi Olalekan (38)
On enquiry, one Suberu Yaya (28) who identified himself as an hunter was suspected to have stolen the two kegs of fuel and was traced with the hunters’ uniform. Further findings led to the recovery of eight kegs of diesel from the suspects.
“When he was arrested, he made useful statement to the Agro Marshal men which informed the decision of the security agents to surmon the complainant, Olalekan to the office who claimed that Yaya stole the two kegs of fuel from him at gun point”.
On recovering the gun, the Commander explained that the complainant, Olayemi Olalekan was discovered to be one of the syndicates that usually siphoned fuel from the cargo airport of Ekiti State which he said he has been doing for long.
“We went to his house where he gave us another eight kegs that he has siphoned in the past and there have been complaints that they have been siphoning the fuel in the cargo airport which belongs to the Ekiti State Government and that he has been selling it”.
Exhibits found with the suspect include one locally made gun, one unregistered motor bike with the hunters’ uniform which was used to trace him.
While promising to transfer their case to the police for further investigation and prosecution, the Commander equally assured members of the public that whoever offers useful information about criminals and criminalities will always be protected as he maintained that the right thing will be done to ensure that justice prevail.
