Following the death of two students of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI) and a staff of Emirate hote Ikere Ekiti after Convocation Party on Sunday 19 April, 2026
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Micheal, has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that the celebration, which lasted into the early hours of the next day, Sunday following the convocation of the students on Saturday turned chaotic after a disagreement between two unidentified students escalated into a fight. The altercation reportedly triggered panic among other attendees, leading to a rush for the exit and a stampede.
The resulting chaos led to the death of the two students and a member of the hotel staff. Their bodies have since been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
Reacting to the development, the Police Commissioner expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, assuring the public that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the full details of the incident.
The Police Command has also called for calm among residents, pledging that those found culpable will be brought to justice.
