Ekiti state Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has been challenged to improve on the poor state of infrastructural facilities in the state to justify the #10.2 billion monthly allocation he gets from the federal government’s account.
A philanthropist, Mr Ojo David Falegan (ODF) threw the challenge during an interview on Friday in Ado Ekiti. He said what Governor Biodun Oyebanji has done so far in the state is below expectation compared to the huge allocation given to the state monthly. “The allocation this governor is collecting has no measure with the facilities he has put on the ground. Governor Oyebanji collects #10. 2billion allocation yet the state infrastructures are in this mess, what is he doing? the governor hasn’t done anything.
“Ekiti roads are badly connected and you are constructing a bridge that has no economic value to residents of the state. The masses are suffering and there are no industries to absorb them . Our governor doesn’t know the needs of the people. The resources he is using to construct a bridge should have been used to fix the bad portions of the roads .Ekiti residents deserve a leader that understands their needs and prioritize them” He stated
Commenting on the wedding of the Governor’s daughter that was held in IBADAN, ‘ODF’ as fondly called said the governor stylishly averted embarrassment, that’s why he did his daughter’s wedding in IBADAN because he knew if he had come with the dignitaries to Ekiti state with the deadly trap roads, they would change their minds towards him.
ODF said the masses needed orientation and payment of workers’ salary is a norm not an achievement. “All Governor Oyebanji could boast of publicly is payment of teachers salary – payment of workers salary is a norm; it’s like going to ATM to withdraw some money. It’s not an achievement”.
Please, I appeal to the governor to pay teachers three months arrears of the #70,000 minimum wage increase mooted four months ago in Nigeria which he started paying in December, 2024.
When asked why he was hard on the governor, ODF said he has no political ambition, saying he is a voice in Ekiti “I love Ekiti people and I will continue to support them and I want the state governor to prioritize their needs and make them happy”
