Poised to make all the youth, students and community organisations operating in Ekiti State more functional and visible, the state government, has disbursed a whopping sum of N29 million as Subvention to ease their day- to -day activities.
Speaking at the event, held in Ado Ekiti , on Monday, the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, said his government perceived the youths as the pivot of governance, describing the action as amplifying his youth centric nature and demonstrating his culture of excellence in service.
The funds’ disbursement was undertaken by the Ministry of Youth Development under the supervision of the commissioner for youth Development, Hon. Gold Adesola Adedayo.
Oyebanji, represented by Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Adedayo, revealed that the subvention was disbursed to all registered youth and student organizations across the state.
Similarly, Oyebanji added that no fewer than one community-based organization in each of the 16 Local Government Areas



benefitted from this initiative.
He stated that the strategic intervention underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening youth-focused institutions and fostering inclusive grassroots development, saying it was designed to enable the organisations carry out impactful programs, expand their reach, and contribute meaningfully to community development.
Oyebanji emphasized the importance of accountability, stressing that all benefiting organizations must ensure transparency in the utilization of the funds received.
He noted that the subvention is specifically meant to support the effective running of their respective organizations and to drive impactful initiatives.
Oyebanji further expressed his steely commitment people-centered leadership, and zeal for youth development, describing these as the best way to build the capacities of the productive population.
“This initiative plays a vital role in advancing the socio-economic growth of the state by promoting youth engagement, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and civic participation. By supporting structured youth and student platforms, the government is fostering a generation that is productive, innovative, and socially responsible.
“This effort reiterates the Governor’s steadfast commitment to youth empowerment and employment. By providing financial support and enabling a conducive environment for growth, the administration continues to ensure that young people are meaningfully engaged and not left idle, thereby reducing vulnerabilities and unlocking their full potential.
“The State Government remains dedicated to sustaining policies and programs that prioritize youth development as a cornerstone for long-term progress and prosperity”, the governor assured .
Dignitaries at the event were: Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education, Professor Hakeem Azeez, the Director General of Civic Orientation, Mrs. Famuyide, the representative of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Seun, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, among others.
