An Ekiti indigene, Victor Femi Ekunyan, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), promising to wipe out banditry within 24 hours, create three million jobs, and raise Nigeria’s minimum wage to ₦150,000.
Ekunyan, who hails from Ise Ekiti, made the declaration in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday while addressing party stakeholders and journalists , stating that banditry exists within government and outside it, and requires decisive action to restore national security.




He described himself as a professional surveyor” who has practised in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, expressing confidence in his ability to tackle the country’s challenges through practical experience and leadership.
A graduate of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Ekunyan unveiled a seven-point agenda tagged “Rescue, Restore and Greatness,” aimed at repositioning Nigeria and ensuring citizens benefit from democratic governance.

On agriculture, he proposed the establishment of 20,000 farmland locations across communities in Nigeria, covering vast land areas and equipped with storage, production, and packaging facilities to boost food security and ensure affordable produce.
He also promised free healthcare for all Nigerians, including access to medications, expansion of healthcare workforce, construction of hospitals and clinics in every community, and improved welfare for medical professionals.
In the education sector, the aspirant pledged free education at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, alongside investments in infrastructure, provision of computers, and improved welfare for teachers, lecturers, and support staff.
Ekunyan further outlined plans to develop critical infrastructure, including inter-state rail networks, improved road systems, stable electricity supply through renewable and conventional energy sources, and expanded investments in telecommunications, aviation, and waterways.
On economic growth, he pledged to create millions of jobs through industrialisation and local manufacturing, while doubling the current minimum wage to improve workers’ standard of living and stimulate economic activity.
Party leaders, including chief Bosun Aguda and Chief Sanya Atofarati, the PDP Public Relations Officer for South-West PDP , expressed support for his ambition, described the declaration of the aspirant as a sign of renewed strength within the party, while criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over insecurity, inflation, and infrastructure challenges,.
