Hon. Femi Akindele, the representative of Irepodun Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has praised the spouses of members of the 7th Assembly for their impactful back-to-school initiative.
The program, held at the Assembly complex, aimed to provide educational support to students ahead of the new academic session.
As part of the initiative, 12 students from Irepodun Ifelodun Constituency 1 were beneficiaries of essential school supplies.
These supplies included school bags, writing materials, food flasks, and water bottles—items that are crucial for the students as they prepare to return to their classrooms after the long vacation.
Hon. Akindele emphasized that the program was designed to help ease the economic burden on parents, many of whom are grappling with the financial challenges brought on by the current economic climate.
By providing these resources, the initiative seeks to offer relief to families and ensure that students can return to school equipped and ready to learn.
“This gesture not only supports parents during these tough times but also encourages students to excel academically. We want to motivate these young learners to focus on their education and build a brighter future for themselves,” Akindele said.
He also highlighted how the program complements the ongoing efforts of the Ekiti State government to uplift the education sector.
According to the lawmaker, this initiative aligns with the state’s broader goal of improving access to quality education for all, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds.
Akindele further noted that the initiative reflects the commitment of the spouses of the 7th Assembly members to community development and the well-being of students.
He expressed hope that similar programs would continue to be implemented, fostering a culture of educational support and growth within the constituency.
The lawmaker said that the back-to-school program is seen as part of a larger strategy to improve education in Ekiti State, adding that the state government has been making significant investments in the sector, including infrastructure development, teacher training, and curriculum improvements.
Hon. Akindele reaffirmed his commitment to supporting these efforts and working alongside the state government to ensure that students in his constituency receive the best possible education.
