The chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers Ekiti State Wing, Comrade Daodu Bamidele Olaitan has called on Primary School Teachers in the state to remain calm as regards conflicting deductions from their December salary by the union’s regulatory body called Teachers Registration Council Of Nigeria (TRCN).
The chairman who was reacting to complaints by some teachers that more that #3000 was deducted from their salary .
Comrade Daodu who relayed his conversation with the TRCN coordinator in Ekiti State, Mr Israel said the #3000 deducted from primary school teachers’ December salary was the mandatory annual due for 2022, as he reiterated that efforts have been made to know why more than #3000 was deducted from some teachers salary as alleged
He said Mr Israel, the state coordinator for TRCN confirmed that the body only deducted #3000 for 2022 annual dues as against conflicting amount alleged by some teachers in the state
According to the chairman,
“Development levy was deducted from October salary, nothing was deducted from November salary and now TRCN annual due for 2022 was deducted from December salary. I want to assure you that subsequent annual dues will not be deducted during festive period because members financial commitment during the period is always high”
The state chairman however enjoined members to remain calm, saying his administration would always ensure their welfare and conditions of service are well protected, while calling on members whose December salary was indiscriminately deducted to
first confirm the deductions through their Local Government Education Area Accountants and if not satisfied, they should report to their various branch chairmen for clarification from the office of the Accountant General.
