The leadership of Ekiti State House of Assembly has adjourned plenary following reports of an attempted attack on the Assembly Complex in Ado-Ekiti.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan said though the leadership of the House had decided to adjourn plenary for two months before intelligent report revealed the attempted attack on the Assembly, hence the decision was immediately reviewed following interventions from ranking stakeholders in the state.
The Assembly was shut down earlier in the day and workers asked to vacate the premises in compliance to security advice.
Policemen were stationed at strategic places to prevent breakdown of laws and order.
Reacting to the purported plot, Rt. Hon. Aribisogan said, “As regards the plot to attack the Complex, we have met with the police and they’re currently investigating the matter”.
He added that the adjournment was for few days.
However, the attempted attack may not be unconnected to what played out on the election that produced the new speaker and plans to announce committees’ chairmen.
