The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, and UK-based legal practitioner Olusegun Thompson LLM have rallied stakeholders behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s bid for a second term in office.
The duo hosted a pre-election event in Ado-Ekiti under the auspices of the AC canvassing group, where Thompson was unveiled as the guest of honour.
The UK-based solicitor said he returned home specifically to mobilise support for the governor, popularly known as BAO.
Speaking at the gathering attended by party loyalists and community stakeholders, Prof. Akinwumi commended Thompson for his sacrifice in travelling from the United Kingdom to back the governor’s re-election. He described the gesture as evidence of the broad acceptance of Oyebanji’s leadership beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Akinwumi urged supporters to step up grassroots mobilisation and ensure the administration’s achievements are communicated across all wards and communities in the state.
“Total victory is the only option. We must leave no stone unturned in delivering Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term. His achievements speak for themselves, and our collective task is to consolidate on these gains,” he said.
In his address, Thompson highlighted the governor’s record in education, infrastructure, and inclusive governance as reasons for his support.
“I am here because I believe in continuity of good governance. Governor Oyebanji has shown capacity, integrity, and genuine commitment to the people of Ekiti. I am giving my full support, and I call on all well-meaning Ekiti indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to do the same,” he said.
The leadership of the AC canvassing group reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, voter education, and door-to-door campaigns to secure victory for the governor at the Saturday’s polls.
