Ekiti State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, has said that the state government has recently recruited health workers into the State Primary Health Care Development Agency and General Hospitals to further strengthen service delivery.
Filani said that the Biodun Oyebanji had renovated and upgraded over 100 primary health centres across the state with solar power, water supply and essential equipment.
Speaking during an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing work in of the General Hospitals on Friday, the Commissioner disclosed that the Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration in the state had also renovated and equipped more than 10 general hospitals with modern medical equipment.
He added, “Under the current administration, over 100 PHCs across the 16 local government areas have been renovated and upgraded with solar power, water supply, and essential equipment. More than 10 general hospitals have also been renovated and equipped with modern medical equipment, while mechanisms have been put in place to ensure consistent access to essential drugs.
“Over 800,000 residents have so far benefited from the Ulerawa Health Insurance Scheme, which provides free and affordable healthcare services to vulnerable Ekiti people.
He noted that the welfare and well-being of health workers across the state remain a top priority of the administration.
“These interventions are part of deliberate efforts to strengthen the health system, improve maternal and child health outcomes and ensure that no Ekiti resident is left behind in accessing quality care,” Filani said.
He reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to the continuous improvement of the health and well-being of all residents.
The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work done so far, noting that the projects aligned with Oyebanji administration’s vision of bringing quality and accessible healthcare closer to the people at the grassroots.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr Olasunkanmi Alabi; and other top government officials.
