Ekiti State Government has postponed the swearing – in ceremony for the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Dr ( Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro and the Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN , initially scheduled for Thursday, October 20, 2022 would hold at a new date to be announced later.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oyebanji, Yinka Oyebode noted that the postponement was sequel to the death of Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker, RT. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye on 19 October, 2022.
The statement reads in part:”Also, as a mark of honour for the departed soul, the Governor’s special thanksgiving service slated for Sunday, October 23rd, has been postponed indefinitely”
Meanwhile, Ekiti State House of Assembly has declared a 7- day mourning in honour of the departed Speaker, RT. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye.
The chairman House Committee on media, Mrs Yemisi Ayokunle in a statement said the flag in the Assembly complex would be flown at half mast during the period.
Mrs Ayokunle described the late Speaker as an embodiment of courage, excellence and a highly commited man to public service. She maintained that Hon. Afuye would be greatly missed at a time his wealth of experience was needed .
