The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State , Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi has enjoined HRM Oba David Sunday Awe to work harmoniously with his subjects for rapid development of the town.
Also, urged Ilupeju Ekiti inhabitants to cooperate with the new monarch and sustain relative peace that bond the community together.
Otunba Egbeyemi gave the advice while presenting staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti on 8 October, 2022 at Ilupeju Ekiti.
According to Egbeyemi “The process for the selection of the new Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti started immediately the community transmitted letter to Ekiti State government about the demise of late Oba Olaleye Oniyelu on 21 July, 2022″ .” The kings makers in line with the provision of 6th Law, Cap 65 Law of Ekiti State 2012 declared Prince David Sunday Awe of Akingbade ruling House as the new Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti on 8 September, 2022.
Otunba Egbeyemi commended sons and daughters of Ilupeju Ekiti for the peaceful and matured filling of the vacant stool of Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti without any crisis . He stressed that the installation of the new Apeju was the easiest and fastest in the history of Ekiti State, thereby urged other communities to emulate the peaceful process.
In his acceptance speech, HRM Oba David Sunday Awe, the Apeju Of Ilupeju Ekiti promised to rule all sons, daughters and inhabitants of Ilupeju Ekiti with the fear of God, Saying he would be transparent and worked hand- in -hand with his subjects to sustain peace that would pave way for rapid development of the town.
The new Apeju appreciated the developmental presence of Governor Fayemi in Ilupeju Ekiti. Also, he appreciated sons and daughters of the town for their unflinching support for the progress of Ilupeju Ekiti.
The monarch however enjoined them not to rest on their oarse .Saying, Ilupeju Ekiti needed expansions and massive developments.
Earlier, president of Ilupeju Development Association, Dr Femi Babalola had commended the government of Dr Fayemi for his support and achievements in the town to includes: Construction of Esinkun – Okeji road, Ilupeju- Ire – Ilumoba road, power sub station in Ilupeju Ekiti to mention but few.
Also, the president thanked the Governor for appointing Ilupeju Sons and daughters to his cabinet.
Dr Femi, reiterated that the town was celebrating love, unity and oneness. He reassured the gathering that the new Apeju would perform excellently to the admiration of all and sundries , saying, he had gone through tutelage before the demise of Oba Olaleye Oniyelu who had taught Oba Sunday Awe the nitty-gritty of the throne.
Cultural troups, the Ologuns and musicians added glamour to the programme.
Dignitaries at the coronation includes : Traditional rulers from neighbouring towns, Eyesorun Chief Mrs Tolu Oniyelu , Chief Mrs Ayo Oniyelu, Hon Sunday Adunmo, Hon. Yemi Osatuyi, Oska Ayeleso, the Chairmen of Oye Local Government and Ifeloju LCDA, members of Apeju-in- Council, clerics, security personnel .
