The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Dr. (Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi has reiterated Ekiti State Government’s commitment to invest in skills acquisition and economic empowerment which is one of the pillars of the administration.
The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE) Mrs. Modupe Falade made this known during the Graduation ceremony of De-Rock International Vocational/Model College in Ado-Ekiti.
ThePermanent Secretary explained that the skills acquisition programme is aimed at equipping the youths, women and men with basic and functional literacy education to avail them the opportunity to be productive, self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic advancement of the state and the country at large.
Olomojobi therefore charged the graduads to make use of the skills they have acquired to better their lives and the society at large.
In his remarks, the Proprietor of De-Rock International Vocational/Model College, Ado-Ekiti, Mr. Femi Apata congratulated the graduands and applauded them for their willingness to equip themselves for a better tomorrow especially amidst the long ASUU strike.
While expressing his gratitude to God Almighty and the Ekiti State Government, Apata charged youths seeking for employment to make use of any opportunity that comes their way to equip themselves skillfully so as to be financially independent and self-reliant.
Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Mr. Adelusi Taiwo Peter expressed their profound gratitude to the organizers of the programme, for deeming it fit to build their intellectual mind and harness their creativity prowess towards the direction of what appeals to them with a call on government at all levels not to limit their empowerment programmes to training alone but also to equip the graduands with start-up kits and funds to enable them measure up to the economic standard of the nation.
Present at the ceremony included the Director, Mass Literacy and Women Education Department Mrs. Ife Ajewole, Mr. Awe I.K, Mr. Hassan Tiamiyu, Mr. Onileowo and Mrs Olatunde.
